Bear Dance Closing FAQ

We’ve gotten a lot of good questions over the past couple weeks, so we wanted to put everything in one place. If you’re wondering what’s happening next — this should cover it.

Are you completely closed?

We are officially done with retail and will not be bringing in new inventory. However, we still have our space through at least the end of May and will be available by appointment only during that time.

We’re still figuring out what a consistent schedule looks like for May, so if you’d like to stop by, just reach out. We’re also open to feedback — if there are certain days/times that would be helpful for people, let us know.

What happens to my loyalty points?

If you have unredeemed loyalty points, you can still use them — but there’s a deadline. We’re able to place purchase orders from our wholesalers and apply your loyalty points to those.

Please reach out BEFORE May 1st
Our loyalty program will be disabled after that.

What about gift cards?

Gift cards can still be used.

Similar to loyalty points, we can place custom orders from our wholesalers and apply your gift card balance toward those purchases.

Just reach out and we’ll coordinate it with you.

Why are you closing?

Short answer: financial sustainability.

We’ve put a significant amount of our own personal money into keeping Bear Dance running over the years — covering inventory, rent, and day-to-day operations — and the current regulatory environment has made it increasingly difficult for small, compliant businesses like ours to operate in a sustainable way.

At a certain point, continuing didn’t make sense anymore.

This wasn’t a quick decision, and it’s not one we take lightly — but it’s the reality of where things stand right now for financially independent small businesses like us.

What do you do now?

We’re shifting our focus into the parts of Bear Dance that have always mattered most:

  • cannabis education

  • personalized guidance

  • helping people navigate products and usage

  • industry insight and consulting

We’re also continuing to run my creative marketing studio, Gray Matters Design, which has been supporting Bear Dance behind the scenes for years.

Can I still work with you?

Yes — absolutely.

We’re now available for:

  • 1:1 cannabis consultations

  • product guidance and education

  • business-to-business consulting (retailers, brands, startups)

  • strategy, positioning, and marketing through Gray Matters

If you’ve ever appreciated how we explain things or how we approach this industry, this is where that continues.

Reach out or book a consultation to get started.

What’s happening with the space?

We’ll have the space through the end of May-ish.

After that, it may become available for rent if our neighbor doesn’t take it.

If you’re interested or know someone who might be, feel free to reach out and we can connect you.

We just want to say thank you. For the past 6 (almost 7) years, Bear Dance has been more than a shop — it’s been a place for conversations, learning, and connection.

We’re really proud of what we built, and we’re incredibly grateful for everyone who was part of it. This isn’t the end — just a transition into something different.
